While my family was at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo over the weekend (something I've done every year since I was a little girl!), I had the chance to take a few pictures of this kitchen I helped design and style. The home was a new build and although the kitchen was gorgeous when my client moved in, it needed some finishing touches to make it feel like home. Scroll down to see how a few easy updates can make a big impact on your space! One of the first things we did was add hardware to the cabinets and drawers. There are so many builders that do not include hardware! Not only does the hardware add style to your space, but it also keeps your cabinets from getting dirty fingerprints all over them. For this client, I went with a more modern T Bar Pull for all of the cabinets and drawers. My favorite thing we added was the large pendant light over the island sink! Light fixtures can make a huge statement in a room! It's hard to believe there was only a boring recessed light before. I added some color in the room with items my client actually uses...they are not just decoration! Another item not included with the home were window coverings. This can be a huge expense and sometimes overlooked by the new owner. You can see in the picture below that we added some woven wood shades to add some texture in the room. I love the look of these shades and it's a great option to dress up a window. Rather than cluttering the island with place settings, I opted for these cool containers from World Market. They add a pop of color in the room and make the island easy to clean around. Here is a picture of the kitchen when my client moved in. It was great before, but now it really does have that "wow" factor when you walk in! Have a great week and keep checking back for more room transformations!
